FMOF - Acreo's Partner Association
Acreo, important part of the new ICT institute: A major step to establish a new research institute for ICT has now been taken. The shareholders FMOF, FAS and IRECO signed an agreement forming the company Swedish ICT Research AB, SWICT AB, June 15 2005.
SWICT embraces two subsidiaries: Acreo AB and SITI AB. SITI includes SICS, Swedish Institute of Computer Science AB, Santa Anna Research Institute AB, the Viktoria Institute AB, and the Interactive Institute. FMOF and FAS will hold 30% each and IRECO 40% of SWICT AB.
The new ICT-group gathers a broad and deep competence in hardware as well as software, systems and IT-applications. The new stronger organisation will better meet future demands from industry and facilitate participation in large research programmes like the EU Seventh Framework Programme, FP7.
A number of advisory boards will be initiated to support the business and programme planning processes of SWICT. FMOF-members will have the opportunity to participate in advisory boards connected to Acreo. As a member of the new quartet of IRECO institute clusters SWICT, and Acreo, will have the opportunity to take part in the Vinnova and IRECO financing programme for basic institute research presented in the government bill for research (”Forskningspropositionen”).
