µW and Millimeterwave Substrate and System Design
Effectively combining expertise in thin-film processing and mmW-design, Acreo for a number of years has been able to conduct cutting-edge R&D-projects in the field of low-cost packaging technologies for mmW-applications, such as 77GHz radar and 60GHz WLAN.
The very fine tolerances achievable in thin-film processing, and the and high qualitiy RF-performance of the materials make it possible to achieve extremely small and accurate structures, perfectly suited to create substrates with integrated passive structures and interconnects to MMIC- and SiGe dies.
Some examples of projects in this field are:
- 94GHz active sensor; thin-film microstrip technology
- 77GHz automotive radar demonstrator; thin-film microstrip technology
- thin-film substrates for future Point-to-Point communication links
- adaptive antennas for 24GHz and 77GHz automotive radar; co-planar technology; substrate lens antennas
60GHz WLAN demonstrator; co-planar technology; substrate lens antennas.
As this list indicates, our experience is not limited to our in-house processes. Using state-of-the art system design tools and field simulators such as Agilent ADS and Ansoft HFSS, we are doing system as well as circuit design in a number of technologies, including MMIC and SiGe. Most of these designs are also verified in our in-house measurement lab capable of characterizing structures up to 50GHz on-chip
