Acreo and Linköping University together with Industry has joined forces in a new Center for Printed Electronics in Norrköping.
The intention is to further strengthen Sweden in this emerging technology area. The project, which operates under the name Centerprise, has a budget of SEK 41 million for three years. VINNOVA is investing a total of SEK 13 million during a period of three years, and Acreo/ Linköping University SEK 13 million and business interests SEK 15 million. The areas of application for printed electronics are many, for example, smart labels or smart packaging that can enable new packaging solutions within food and pharmaceutical industry. Printed electronics can also be of great importance for anticounterfeiting and security documents.
Industry Interaction is taking place in PEA Manufacturing which is a “Manufacturing Greenhouse” where companies can test and evaluate the technology and even produce pilot volumes of Printed Electronics Products.
The specific tasks for Centerprise are:
- Long term collaboratiion with industry
- Further development of Printed Electronics technology platform towards commercial products
- Industrialization support
- R&D for the next generation of technology platforms of printed electronics
- Creating a strong IP position to facilitate a successful commercialization
- Attracting existing industry to establish activity around Centerprise and secure proper venture capital funding to generate new industry
