Home network has become a buzzword attracting more and more attention worldwide. To distribute IP-based TV and telephony together with Internet (“triple play”) within the home, clearly some kind of infrastructure is required. Future end users will need simplicity, accessibility and high quality, to fully embrace the new broadband based services. Today triple play services are the main driving force with real time video being the most demanding.
Key note speaker was Michael Philpott who is a principal analyst specialising in broadband access strategy and technology. Michael is also manager of Ovum's Broadband and ConnectedHome teams and is responsible for all of Ovum's consumer broadband research. Michael's contribution to this research includes reports in areas of broadband technology, operator strategy and broadband markets, as well as detailed broadband network cost modelling and service-demand forecasting. Michael is well known on the conference circuit, providing his analytical view on broadband markets and technologies on behalf of Ovum or its clients.
