Seminar Plastic Optical Fibre (2008)

For quite a few years plastic optical fibre or POF has been a promising technology with commercial deployments just around the corner. While there are still issues with transmission capacity and standardised solutions, POF is now commercially deployed by both enterprises and large operators at customer premises.

Friday May 23rd Acreo arranged a well-attended seminar on plastic optical fibre (POF).

  Homefibre will present the new concept for a scalable optical multimedia home network based on POF. Solutions for retrofit and new building installations will be demonstrated.
• Are optical technologies ready for low-cost mass deployment?

  Glass fiber has so many advantages; how comes installers don’t want to use it? A descent in the hell of optical solutions (and hopefully back to rebehold the stars).
